Disney Cars McDonalds Happy Meal Collection

Disney Cars has been a popular franchise since the movie came out in 2006. With the new movie Disney Cars 2 coming out in the summer of 2011 (June 24th to be exact), collectors are looking forward to expanding their collections with the new merchandise. Collectors are studying the trailer footage to see the new diecast car possibilities and, with an international setting, there are going to be a lot... sumo wrestlers, geishas, zen pitties, and a ton of international car models.

My son and I didn’t start collecting Disney Cars until Christmas 2009 when my son got a Lightning McQueen car as a gift. With all of the other gifts he received, this was his favorite. He has driven it all over the house and every place we visit. Even now, with his vast collection, he always picks that one from the bunch… Smell Swell McQueen. There are a lot of cars to collect and I have tried to figure out the differences between this set and that set, but at the end of the day, we are collecting them for the fun of it and trying to get one of each character.

Recently during an internet search, I came across McDonald’s Happy Meal Disney Cars. I found out that they were available from June 9 through July 6, 2006. There were eight different cars, the Radiator Springs characters: Sally, Ramone, Lightning McQueen, Mater, Luigi, Fillmore, Flo, and Doc Hudson; and some of the characters had different variations: Lightning McQueen and Ramone. I am hoping that my in-laws (McDonald Franchise Owners) have them stashed in their basement and will find them some day.

So once again, I am hoping and waiting to get my hands on these to add to my (oops!.. our) collection. When the new movie is released, I am sure that if the Cars 2 cars are offered we will be enjoying enough McDonald’s Happy Meals to collect them all. Awe, the sacrifices we make as collectors to grow our collections.
